I was hoping for rain today to do an classy portrait with an umbrella, but the rain stopped about 5pm :( so we went out to shoot in the cobbled streets of uphill Lincoln anyway. Just as I got my lights setup it started to rain (RAD) so I quickly moved a grid to the back for some rim & to light up the drops. You know… like a boss!

Nice work man! How did the street lamps effect the image? I know you made it B&W but I was wondering on the original.

Dave, the street lights were quite orange, but I had corrected for that with a full CTO gel on the right flash, despite planning on turning it black and white from the start… I like to do things right. :)

Never seen rain illuminated like that. It looks fantastic. Great work.

I love you strobist shots, and I seriously appreciate these setup diagrams. Thank you very much.
Quick q.: what do you use to make those diagrams?
