The Spooners

I was fortunate enough to shoot Chris & Laura’s wedding on Saturday. I’ve been asked to shoot weddings before but this was the first one I have accepted. I’ve known Chris for years and felt privileged that he considered me.

Believe it or not, I wasn’t only excited to shoot this wedding but I also thoroughly enjoyed doing it! I might even consider shooting another one some time. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go and finish editing the hundreds of photos I took so I can get them over to the happy couple.

Design Is In The Detail

Today I dragged myself out of bed at 7.30 which, let me tell you, is a ridiculous hour on a Sunday. I commando rolled through my clothes straight into the front seat of my Schneemobil & drove through ALL THE WEATHER to Boxpark in Shoreditch, London. I did this so I’d have the pleasure of shooting the Spring/Summer 2013 lookbook for AnyForty — yes a Spring/Summer shoot in the snow… but I made it work.

Daniel Baker

My friend Daniel is a pretty awesome illustrator, the kind of illustrator that likes to draw axes & beards as well as beards & axes. At the end of last month I did a quick promo shoot for him in the attic of our favourite local independent coffee shop.

Oh Shit

Spadge & I had a great time throwing coffee around the kitchen to get this shot… I should probably go and clean it all up but we’re re-watching Lost & it’s at that really good bit in season 3 when The Others capture Kate, Jack & Sawyer. The coffee & the cup are actually from separate shots and this final image is a composite. It took a few attempts to get the timing right for the motion, but once we settled into a rhythm we nailed it. Hope you like it.

Tattoo Tea Party 2013

As part of my birthday present last month Spadge got us tickets to the Tattoo Tea Party — awesome. So we made the trip up to Event City in Manchester to check it out. It’s unusual to see so many different styles under one roof & really interesting seeing how other people deal with the pain of being tattooed. There were some mind-blowingly-good artists & it’s, unsurprisingly, made me feel the need for more ink. Check out the photos and enjoy.

Dainty & Derelict

I can’t tell you how many times my plans have changed for this shot this week, lucky for me it all came together at the last minute and we pulled this (and a few other shots which I’ll share later) out of the bag.

Stay Dead/Stay Lucky

My friend Daniel aka Baker2D has been putting out some pretty rad T’s recently. He asked me to do a couple of shots for him to use for promo and on his store. I went for a high key look using a white wall in my house & a bit of strobist magic.

Dryad

A dryad, in Greek mythology, is the female spirit of a tree. They were normally considered to be very shy creatures, except around the goddess Artemis, who was known to be a friend to most nymphs. I think we spend so much time in woodlands that Spadge has turned into one.

Norfolk Weekend

Last weekend my amazing smoking hot smart sexy pretty cute girlfriend, Spadge, took me away for a weekend to the picturesque village of Burnham Market in North Norfolk. We stayed in an awesome holiday cottage which had everything we could possibly need, including a coffee machine & wood burner for the cold February nights!

Into The Fray

You can think of ever year of your life like a chapter. My birthday was on Sunday so I’m now starting my next one & I’m going to document all of it. Well, at least one part of it every week. By giving myself a week to create each image I’m hoping that the quality of this project will be the best yet.
